Praying Daily

Below are some ways we are taught here at Plainfield to pray

First thing in the morning

Before your feet hit the floor pray: “God is Mind. God is my mind. God is the only pure Mind. God is Life. God is my life. God is the only Life.”

While getting ready for day

God loves me, God made me, God with me.

Before meals

God is great!
God is good!
Let us thank Him
For our food.
Amen.

— Traditional

Remember to pray for those who need food.

Before going out

“The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

— Psalm 121:8

Gratitude is an expression of prayer

During the day

The most important thing we can do is watch our thinking. We are thinking all the time. It does not take any more effort to think good thoughts than bad ones. We need to keep thinking on the right side with God. Trouble comes when we are thinking wrong thoughts about God and His creation. We must ask whatever comes to consciousness, “Are you from God? If from God, come and bless me; if not, depart and leave me forever at peace.” Our thoughts impact our world. Christian Science is about right thinking and right acting. This is praying without ceasing.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

— Galations 5: 22-23

Feeling overwhelmed

Ask God to help you calm down and think clearly, pray for one Mind.

In preparing for exams

You can pray to find peace before taking them, ask God for patience while you answer each question, ask not to be afraid, know God is all wisdom.

Pray for family, friends, church, neighbors and the world.

Before bed

“When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.”

— Proverbs 3:24

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”

— Psalm 4:8
